A. ELECTION NEWS
The 2004 General Election is historic for the Maryland Green Party.
Thanks to the Party's 2003 court victory, the Party's candidates' are no
longer saddled with an unconstitutional petitioning requirement to gain
a place on the ballot. Consequently, the MGP is fielding seven
congressional candidates, eight Baltimore City Council candidates, a
candidate for the Carroll County School Board, and candidates for US
President and Vice President.
As Election Day approaches, these campaigns are seeking support from
Green Party members and recipients of the MGP Newsletter. The Party's
candidates are:
David Cobb President
Pat LaMarche Vice-President
Maria Allwine Senate
Keith Salkowski House District 2
Patsy Allen House District 3
Theresa Dudley House District 4
Bob Auerbach House District 5
Greg Hemingway House District 6
Virginia Rodino House District 7
David Stysley Carroll County School Board
Joan Floyd Baltimore City Council President

Terrence Fitzgerald Baltimore City Council District 5
Paul Dibos Baltimore City Council District 12

Election Day is the Party's most important outreach opportunity. By
locating volunteers outside polling places, the Party will be able to
disseminate its message directly to confirmed voters. To assist with
this effort or to assist one or more of the Party's candidates, please
contact the campaigns as indicated below.
DAVID COBB AND PAT LAMARCHE FOR PRESIDENT AND VICE-PRESIDENT
David Cobb and Pat LaMarche will be the Green Party's candidates at the
top of the ticket this year. Cobb was one of the Green Party activists
most responsible for forming the Texas Green Party. He was a candidate
for Texas Attorney General in 2002 and now lives in California. Pat
LaMarche is the host of a radio show in Maine and has been highlighting
the country's housing crisis, by staying at homeless shelters on her
campaign tour across the country.

Steve Kramer at skramer at guisarme.net or phone 240-426-3338.
MARIA ALLWINE FOR SENATE
Maria Allwine was born and reared in Baltimore and has been a long-time
resident of Baltimore City. Over the past 3 1/2 years, she has been a
committed anti-war and peace and justice activist. She is an active
member of the Iraq Pledge of Resistance and has engaged in many
demonstrations and actions, including civil resistance and disobedience.
She has been arrested several times while exercising her First Amendment
rights in the course of these actions, including in the office of
Senator Barbara Mikulski last November. Maria is passionately committed
to immediately ending the occupation of Iraq, removing the influence of
corporations from every aspect of our lives and restoring the meaning of
"We, the People" to governance at every level.

KEITH SALKOWSKI FOR CONGRESS -- DISTRICT 2
Keith Salkowski believes strongly that a just and prosperous society
begins with individuals, not special interests. That's why he's running
for Congress. "There are too many career politicians running our
government," he says. "If we truly want a representative government, we
need more independent, ordinary folk in Congress. You know, teachers,
plumbers, homemakers." As a filmmaker, an independent small business
owner and a part-time college professor, Keith feels he can bring a
neglected and very important perspective to government.

PATSY ALLEN FOR CONGRESS -- DISTRICT 3
Patsy Allen was born and raised in and around Baltimore, and is a
mother, engineer, and environmentalist. She graduated from Johns
Hopkins University, and has worked in State service since 1979. She is
a firm believer that a country's strength is measured by its humanity,
and by its treatment of each of its citizens. Patsy knows that our
fragmented society must be brought together again, with mutual respect
for one another and the earth upon which we live. We must be sure to
nurture all of our children through comprehensive public health and
meaningful, challenging public education. We need to restore faith in
the democratic system by electing candidates who do not accept money
from corporations, PACs, or unions.

THERESA DUDLEY FOR CONGRESS -- DISTRICT 4
Theresa Mitchell Dudley has worked for years as civic activist, in the
Prince George's County Community of Landover. Dudley has been a vocal
advocate for improving the quality of life issues for her community.
Dudley is wife to Alfred R. Dudley, mother of two Joyce and Alfred III,
and a 4th grade teacher at Rogers Heights Elementary School in
Bladensburg. She is active in several civic groups and boards and is
currently serving as the Chair of the Citizen's Advisory to the Chief of
Prince George's County. She was awarded the Civic Federation's Journal
Cup Civic Service Award in 1996. Dudley is respected in the community
for her integrity, leadership, and her ability to accomplish tasks on a
grassroots level. One local media outlet described Dudley as the
"Unabashed Educator."

BOB AUERBACH FOR CONGRESS -- DISTRICT 5
Bob Auerbach was born New York City in 1919. He earned his B.A. from
NYU in 1948 and his M.A. from Peabody in 1956. Bob has lived over forty
years in Maryland. He is a grandfather and is active in many
organizations promoting peace, social justice, racial harmony, the
environment, and pro-democracy reforms. A former Co-Chair of the
Maryland Green Party, Bob Auerbach was also nominated by the Green Party
as its candidate for U.S. Congress in Maryland's Fifth District in 2002,
but was kept off ballot by a Maryland law that was overturned as
unconstitutional in 2003 by the highest Court of Maryland.

GREG HEMINGWAY FOR CONGRESS -- DISTRICT 6
Greg Hemingway is a 34 year old certified public accountant. Greg holds
a B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University, and a B.S.
in accounting from Towson University. He is married and currently lives
in Lutherville, MD. Greg has been a resident of Maryland since 1994,
and an active member of the Baltimore County Local of the Maryland Green
Party since 2002. Greg's primary reason for running is to offer the
voters in the 6th district another choice. Greg believes we live in a
nation where we are faced with a daunting multitude of choices for
almost every decision we make; only in politics do we settle for two
choices of candidates, or for one choice in the many unopposed political
contests across the country.
For more on the campaign, visit:
http://www.mdgreensforcongress.org/greg_hemingway.htm. To volunteer,
visit: http://www.mdgreensforcongress.org/volunteer.htm.
VIRGINIA RODINO FOR CONGRESS -- DISTRICT 7
Virginia Rodino is the Maryland State Coordinator for the Nader-Camejo
2004 campaign and is a Baltimore City resident. The purpose of
Virginia's campaign is to present voters with another choice that is
pro-peace and truly democratic in process and platform. In Maryland it
is clear to see that both the Republicans and Democrats have
consistently ignored the interests of the working class, enabling the
powerful and wealthy to benefit.

DAVID STYSLEY FOR CARROLL COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD
David Stysley, 25, chair of the Carroll County Green Party, is a
graduate student at McDaniel College and a Westminster resident. He
will focus the Board's activity on attracting and retaining high-quality
teachers by improving classroom resources as well as teacher pay to make
the county "more competitive with other counties around the state. The
Board of Education must unify its efforts" to obtain adequate funding
for initiatives such as full-day kindergarten, he said. "If we can't
find the money for it, we would have to do it on our own time until
Carroll County could raise the money itself," rather than try to meet
the state's 2007 deadline.
To volunteer, contact David Stysley at dstysley at hotmail.com.
JOAN FLOYD FOR BALTIMORE CITY COUNCIL PRESIDENT
For too long, City government has done business in a vacuum, ignoring
the needs and concerns of ordinary citizens. In 2002, the Baltimore
voters reduced the City Council to 14 members in 14 districts in order
better to hold it accountable. But to succeed, the City Council needs a
citizen leader; someone who is not part of the current City Council
culture; someone who is not indebted to the old ways of doing business.
It needs a City Council President who can fulfill the promise for more
accountable government. Joan Floyd is the singular, alternative choice
for President of the Baltimore City Council. If elected, she is
determined to lead a citizens' City Council to work smarter and harder
for Baltimore.

DAVID GREENE FOR BALTIMORE CITY COUNCIL -- DISTRICT 4
David Greene is a community activist and holds a Ph.D. in Physics. He
has been running an active campaign for City Council, employing two
tried and true methods of getting his message out. He has gone door to
door in his district, meeting voters one on one to find out from the
voters what there concerns are and to share with them his ideas for
service on the City Council. Secondly, he has conducted a "Burma Shave
style" sign campaign, displaying a sequence of signs along commuter
routes in his district, expressing a variety of his campaign themes. For
example:
"Hold Your Water
That Is To Say
Plant a Tree
To Save the Bay
Elect David G.S. Greene"

PAUL DIBOS FOR BALTIMORE CITY COUNCIL -- DISTRICT 12
Paul Dibos is an architectural project manager, focusing on sustainable
school design. He was born in Mexico City to a Colombian mother and
Peruvian father and raised in Baltimore since early childhood. He
graduate of Gilman; University of Maryland, College Park (BA); and UCLA
(MA Architecture). He has studied and lived in Europe, Asia, Central
and South America and is now a homeowner in Charles Village. Paul
believes that the leadership of Baltimore has failed the majority of
residents in the 12th Council District in providing adequate housing,
meaningful education, and jobs that pay a living wage. Instead, they
have spent the residents' money persuading tourists to stay one night in
Baltimore. Paul seeks to look out for the interests of those who spend
every night in Baltimore.

the disconnects in communities for over 25 years, he's been an advocate
for our urban environment and our health, and has fought against the
destruction of neighborhoods and for empowering communities through
educational training programs ... and he's been getting results. Now,
he wants to bring his know-how to the City Council and the new 13th
District. On Nov. 2, you can vote for only ONE candidate for City
Council to represent your voice. Make it Glenn L. Ross.

activist for ten years, and is currently serving as the president of the
Waverly Improvement Association. He listens to residents and has
improved his community by working on projects like the new YMCA at
Stadium Place, the new Giant grocery on 33rd St., Waverly's Main Street,

neighborhoods, Greater Homewood Community Corp, and the Woodberry
